Spiders hate peppermint – who knew? So an easy way to keep spiders from entering your house/shed/garage/car/all of the above is to get a spray bottle and fill it with water and 15-20 drops of peppermint essential oil (more if you wish – the stronger the better). Give it a good shake to mix it all up and then spray it around your doors, windows and any other spider-lurking areas.* Bye bye spiders! Make sure it is pure peppermint oil and not an extract or synthetic copy as they won’t work as well or for as long.
Apparently this also works against mice – who knew? However I haven’t had a chance to test this theory.
*If you’re spraying something bare to the weather (outside of front door) be aware that when it rains the peppermint will be washed away and you’ll have to reapply. That’s why I do it on both the inside and outside of my doors and windows.
If you want a bit more info on this I have an article here http://healthmad.com/health/peppermint-the-natural-spider-repellent/or you can google it and there’s plenty more suggestions and ideas for natural spider solutions.
